The Athletic: Sports News

Since May I have troubles with the login. The help centre is not really available, it is really frustrating and I pay money regularly to The Athletic although I cannot reach my valid access.

Since the acquisition through The New York Times, The Athletic has fallen off a cliff. They censor comments that don’t align with the leftist ideology of the NYT. I get it to censor comments that are hateful and inappropriate but I've encountered numerous comments now that were written in a serious and polite manner but still being censored when not agreeing with the agenda of the NYT. It also seems like that The Athletic is pushing an agenda to discredit Cristiano Ronaldo but praise Lionel Messi. 95% of articles about Cristiano are very critical whereas 95% of articles about Messi were the exact opposite. I even flagged a comment which called Cristiano a rapist which wasn’t taken down. Given that they censor comments that were written in a serious and polite manner but not agreeing with their leftist agenda but still allowing hateful comments like the Cristiano one is truly bothering. I have also encountered several hate comments that called for the death of Russians due to the war in Ukraine. No matter how you stand on this conflict you just don’t wish death to anybody. Truly frightening that they are pretty selective to what is hate speech and what is not.

Wont keep me logged in and always changes my favourited teams and leagues.

I love The Athletics prose and content but why an app in 2023 still refuses to swipe right if I want to leave an article and return to the previous screen is a mystery to me. Mobile first, please.

Lohnt sich vor allem für Nfl, Premier League und Internationale Tuniere. Bundesliga ist okay abgedeckt.

The app is too slow. This means that you have to wipe down quite often to get new articles. Apart from this, the whole customization does not really work as you see articles you are not interested in and do not see the articles, you would like to see. UI is not intuitive.

Achtung, nach 5 Testtagen hat man direkt ein Jahresabo an der Backe obwohl auch monatliche Abos möglich wären !!

Wer kein Problem damit hat englische Artikel zu lesen, kommt überhaupt nicht um The Athletic herum! Neuerdings auch mit ausgeweiteter Berichterstattung über die Bundesliga.
