MIDI Designer Pro X (MDPx) is the culmination of over a decade of continuous improvements. In 2012, we launched MIDI Designer Pro, which we relaunched in 2016 as MIDI Designer Pro 2. MDP2 was the first and only professional-grade MIDI controller built natively for iOS, earning widespread critical acclaim. Since launch, we have released over 80 updates, greatly expanding features and functionality. Our library of user-created content now covers over 300 MIDI targets covering a vast array of music-making gear and software. In 2024, we take a significant leap forward with MDPx. This release elevates the user experience to new heights on iPad and Mac -- including a new, expressive theme called "Spaceship" -- while advancing usability massively for iPhone users. A new subscription model — Premium — allows even more users to use the App in their music-making and discover the App Store's best MIDI controller for themselves. *** Capabilities *** • Control all MIDI-enabled hardware and software: keyboards, synths, effects, pedals, DAWs, plug-ins, DJ, VJ & lighting rigs, other iOS apps, robots, cruise ships, rail guns, particle accelerators • Solid MIDI Communications Infrastructure: Sets the industry standard for reliable and robust MIDI interactions over Network, Bluetooth and USB. • Active Community of Authors: A vibrant ecosystem supporting legacy and current music synthesizers, sound engines, DAWs, and all MIDI-controlled devices. • Extensive User Layout Library: More than 350 layouts for over 80 manufacturers, contributed by the Community. • Comprehensive Support: Whether you’re just starting or tackling complex MIDI implementations, with the Community we are here to assist. • MIDI Designer’s ‘Superpowers’: A suite of powerful features exclusive to MIDI Designer that we have developed over the last 10+ years, including: • Ableton Link and Link Control Loopers • Supercontrols and subcontrols as the basis for many features (with no scripting!): • Snap sub to value over time • Sequential subs • Subcontrol chaining • Button groups (radio buttons) with Bounceback™ • Steppers • Live Transpose • Group Presets • Named Ticks • Accelerometer • Simplified Sysex Messages with variables and bit changers • Snap to Value over Time • Global Presets • Pedalboards • Popup Panels (Show/Hide) • Two-up Page Layout for iPad/Mac • Streambyter Plugin by Audeonic for advanced MIDI transformation MDPx is easy to use, infinitely flexible and customizable, and battle-tested in performance. • Suddenly I'm supposed to pay monthly

I bought Midi Designer 3 years ago for the full price to operate hardware synths and found the app very suitable for this. Now I'm supposed to pay monthly to be able to use the same functions even though I paid the full price back then? I find that pretty unfair and dubious. Please make a new version with a subscription model and keep the old version in the AppStore, without further updates if you like.

Warum so kompliziert??? Das ganze für über 20 Euro?? Sorry, irgendwie bin ich echt traurig, denn die Idee ist mega aber selbst mit direkter Kabel Verbindung klappt es nicht immer zuverlässig. Schade ☹️
  • Top MIDI controller app

I'm very fresh into the "own MIDI controller" App world and have been working my way through a lot of reviews and videos and have tested a few apps. Many of the apps I couldn't get working at all, were ancient (several years without updates) or are about to EOF. Was already pretty frustrated and wanted to bury the idea. I still had one app - MIDI Designer - and a hit! Exactly what I was looking for - installation and connection to the MAC is easy kids (unlike Windows, here setting up a BLE MIDI or WIFI connection is a science in itself, but therefor MIDI Designer can not help it - in a pinch, a cable connection is always possible). Access to the software is very easy and the first templates and controllers are created in no time (thanks to a good tutorial at the initial start). However, the easy start should not hide the complexity and diverse possibilities of the controller designs. In any case, my social life is currently being badly affected, because I first have to create controllers for all my devices ;) If now an editor for Windows is added, I'll be happy as a clam 😉 Keep it up!! ✌🏼

  • Poor features for the price

Very basic things are working ok but it lacks advanced features like global variables, sending messages to other controls, toggle groups for buttons and many more. Look at the app tbmidistuff to see how it should be done. (Except for the crash bug of course) Despite that, the form and color of the controls are looking ugly and there’s no way to change that.

wenn es sowas schon vor 20 Jahren gegeben hätte! Ich hatte mir schon immer gewünscht jemand würde mal einen ultimativen Midicontroller bauen. Aber vor dem iPad war sowas einfach nicht realisierbar.
