Simple Folder Monitor lives in your menu bar and keeps your folders tidy. Tell it which folders to watch, create a project for each kind of file (work screenshots, Facebook captures, receipts), and it files new arrivals into the right place. AUTO OR MANUAL In Auto mode, files move the moment they land. In Manual mode, a small popup (or a queue in the menu bar, your choice) asks which project each file belongs to, with a thumbnail so you can tell at a glance. Add a quick note, like a person's name, and it goes into the file name. SMART MATCHING Match by file type, name, "is a screenshot", or the website a file was downloaded from. Set priorities when more than one project could claim a file. RENAME AS IT FILES Use project name, date, time, a running counter, the original name, your note, or the first words read from inside an image. Example: Work_2026-10-06_001.png ORGANIZED DESTINATIONS Sort into date subfolders like 2026/10, and add Finder tags to every file a project files. Turn subfolders on or off per project. FAST Keyboard shortcuts switch modes, pause, and file the popup's file without touching the mouse. Pause for 15 minutes or an hour. Tidy a folder's existing files in one go with "Sort existing". SAFE BY DESIGN Every move can be undone. Files that are still downloading are left alone. Name collisions are handled your way: add a number, skip, or ask. PRIVATE No accounts, no network access, no tracking. Text in images is read on your Mac and never leaves it. The app only touches folders you choose.
